How to creatively organize your jewelry

“Trends come and go, and style evolves. It's important to have pieces of jewellery that are timeless and look chic despite ever-changing fashions,” says Karen Elson, an English singer-songwriter &model.

While we do love our sparkly, dazzling possessions, we have to ask ourselves, “Are we maintaining them properly?” If you have a great collection that is strewn about your drawers and wardrobes then you most certainly should get them organized. Not only will it be a fun little project for you, it will also help you find the pieces you need most at a certain point of time.

No more fumbling around your room looking for that special piece of jewelry that was just there yesterday!

Here are a few unique ways you can organize your jewellery and impress your girlfriends.

Stack ‘em up!

The best way to avoid broken, underused jewellery is to stack ‘em where you can see ‘em . Now you can get really creative when it comes to stacking your jewels. Use a different setup for bracelets, earrings and rings! Simple store bought earring holders are available but you can always be original and design your own holder. Hang the holder on a pretty hook. If you’re looking for something out of the box for your bangles or bracelets, use a decorative vase or an empty glass bottle filled with fairy lights. This would help add a bright and artistic ambience to your room. You will also be going eco-friendly if you upcycle the unused glass bottles in your house.

Box ‘em up!

Go old school and store your precious jewellery in a good ol’ jewellery box. Perhaps you have something lying around from Grandma that has sentimental value. Perhaps you could design your own or order one online that suits your style. What you need, is a box with different compartments that won’t let your jewellery get tangled up.

Another way to do this is to buy separate boxes to categories jewellery according to a specific occasion - birthdays, workdays, wine and dine nights or a casual road trip.

Hang ‘em up!

The simplest way to organize your jewellery and add decor to your room is to pin up your jewellery on a wall stand. You can hang your necklaces separately to avoid them getting tangled up. If you’re looking for the easy way out, just use push pins in a selected area of your room to hang your pieces. Or buy a new ready-made wall hanger that suits your taste. If you have a separate jewellery cabinet that it big enough, you can customize it with paint and then add some hooks to it. Here, you may place your delicate necklaces, earrings, etc. Make sure this cabinet has a lock so your precious jewels are safe and sound.

Bag ‘em up!

You can buy cute little pouches for each type of jewellery piece. Exquisite and expensive ornaments should always be kept in separate bags to avoid laceration and other types of damage. To avoid oxidation, you can store these pouches in a cool and dry place. This type of storage is extremely important for the pieces you shelled out the most on, like emerald earrings and ruby necklaces.

Switch it up!

Now you’ve probably seen most of your friends stacking, bagging, compartmentalizing and hanging their jewellery as well. Want something different so you can really stand out? Then you need to get online and do a little browsing. Find an item that you want to place in your room, that can hold different pieces of jewellery. For example, a sturdy and swirly leafless sculpture of a tree can be a great addition to your interiors and at the same time provide a creative space for hanging your jewellery. Anna Kendrick says “To me, accessorizing is the most fun part of an outfit. While I don't think you can't rely on accessories to make a dress that isn't working work, I do love jewelry and handbags more than anything.” And this is the case for most of us. While we do enjoy accessorising and hoarding our favorite jewellery, let’s make sure we take care of them with the same amount of passion and drive.

Go on then. Get creative, ladies!
